Description:
The wine is harmonious, round, generous, fleshy, ample, mellow, racy and elegant, in colour a deep rich ruby red. Order from the Largest & Most Trusted Premium Spirits Marketplace! , Wine Advocate: The 2009 Clos de Vougeot is a huge, huge Burgundy. It will need considerable time to shed its baby fat and its considerable tannin. The 2009 boasts incredible depth and richness, with layers of dark red fruit that saturate the palate through to the finish., Allen Meadows: Much more temperate wood influence allows the fresh and intensely earthy red currant and humus suffused aromas to shine and does not alter the texture of the sappy, focused and overtly powerful flavors that possess fine complexity and excellent length. NOTICE: Many other small liquor store sites may end up cancelling your order due to the high demand, unavailability or inaccurate inventory counts. We have partnerships consisting of a large network of licensed retailers from within the United States, Europe and across the world ensuring orders are fulfilled. Producer: Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Ratings:WA'|'94''AM'| 92 Vintage: 2009 Size:750ml ABV:13.5% Varietal: Pinot Noir Country/Region: France,Burgundy The wine is harmonious, round, generous, fleshy, ample, mellow, racy and elegant, in colour a deep rich ruby red. The bouquet is of quite exceptional aromatic intensity in which the concentrated perfumes of rich red and black fruits (cherries, mulberries, blackcurrants), vanilla and spices, woodland undergrowth, violets and, with age, animal pelts, all mingle and combine. Reviews: Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a Burgundy estate with a long history of making fine Pinot Noir wines in Vosne-Roman'e. The Mongeard family dates its origins in the commune back to 1620. In the 1920s, the marriage of Eug'ne Mongeard to Edm'e Mugneret brought together vineyards from both families, increasing the size of the domaine. In 1945, their son Jean began estate-bottling the wine for the first time and releasing it commercially under the name Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. Jean had taken over the estate and at 16 was selling its grapes to esteemed producers such as Marquis d'Angerville and Henri Gouges. It was on Gouges' advice that Jean transitioned to bottling the wine himself. The estate is now one of the larger properties and has 30 hectares (75 acres) of vines in over 30 different vineyards, with an average vine age of more than 40 years. The most sought-after wines in Mongeard-Mugneret's catalog are six grand cru-designated wines made from parcels in four esteemed vineyards: 'chezeaux, Grands 'chezeaux, Clos de Vougeot and Richebourg. Pinot Noir is the most significant variety in the portfolio, supplemented with a small number of white wines made from Chardonnay and Aligot'. The white wines tend not to come from the more prestigious grand and premier cru-designated vineyards that the domaine is famous for.
