Description:
This deep violet-red colored wine offers a bouquet of cassis, mocha and violet. Gentle tannins back black-plum, cherry, dark-chocolate and anise flavors that are lit up by a vein of acidity that lingers after the last sip. Order from the Largest & Most Trusted Premium Spirits Marketplace! , Wine Spectator: The 2020 Pago de Carraovejas was produced with a blend of 92% Tinto Fino (a.k.a. Tempranillo), 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot. 2020 was a good vintage for them. They harvested earlier (but the wine still has 15% alcohol), all in small boxes and 3,000-kilogram containers, and they are also using 600-liter oak barrels and oak vats for the 'levage. It has an expressive nose of ripe berries, sweet spices and some toast and is lush and creamy, with a soft texture. It's powerful in the house style, but there's balance and harmony., James Suckling: Fresh on the nose, with notes of cherries and blueberries, as well as hints of citrus rind, dried herbs and flowers. Medium-bodied with chalky tannins, soft texture and crunchy blue-fruit character. Lingering finish with hints of blue flowers and minerals. NOTICE: Many other small liquor store sites may end up cancelling your order due to the high demand, unavailability or inaccurate inventory counts. Reviews: Pago de Carraovejas is a wine estate based in Pe'afiel, in the Ribera del Duero region of Castilla y Le'n, in the province of Valladolid in northeast central Spain. The estate produces a small range of wines based on the local mainstay, Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). Starting out in the 1970s with nine hectares () of vines, the current Pago de Carraovejas estate now counts 220 hectares () of vineyard. The vines are predominantly Tinto Fino although significant plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are reflected in the wines. Three main labels are produced: the main release Pago de Carraovejas (93 percent Tinto Fino with four percent Cabernet Sauvignon and three percent Merlot); the single-plot El Anej'n (94 percent Tinto Fino with four percent Merlot and two percent Cabernet Sauvignon); and the Cuesta de las Liebres cuv'e, only released in the best vintages and 100-percent Tinto Fino. The winery is designed to be gravity-flow (i.e. with minimal or no use of pumps). The wines are vinified in a range of oak cuves and aged in barrel.
